The settlements in the area of Cecina go back to the Iron Age: there are many archaeological remains that we witnessed significant activity in this period, during which many industries policies dot the river.
The coastal area of Val di Cecina became crucial during the period of maximum development of Tuscany (VII - V century BC), when organized community settled here and thrive thanks to trade with Cyprus, The Phoenician, Egypt and Greece.
